Keahi breaks down the best ever kite barrel
Keahi De Aboitiz just snagged what he describes as 'the best barrel ever kitesurfed' as Cyclone Oma just hit his home base at the east coast of Australia. He's seen his share of monster waves so right after the barrel he discussed with Pete Cabrinha how he lined up the barrel and why this one was the one for him.
"I actually wanted to go to Cape Verde for the GKA Kite-Surf World Tour but didn’t have enough time to go before my trip to the Marshall Islands, so the swell coming was the perfect excuse to come home to the Gold Coast."
"It was a pretty insane swell, with perfect conditions, the wind was perfect with about 25-30 knots, the sand was lining up well, resulting waves the biggest I've ever seen it at the spot: There were 8-10 feet sets with gaping, wide open barrels! I ended up having the best kiting barrels I ever had."
"This wave was perfection! I was actually pumping through the barrel, which was really long, 5-6 seconds."
"Eventually, my lines started to drag unfortunately, and I had to jump through the back."
"It was probably by far the best barrel I ever had kiting. It felt like I was surfing, the wind angle was really good, so my kite was just drifting."
