Moona wins first GKA stop in Capo Verde
Congratulations to Moona Whyte for winning the first GKA wave event in Cape Verde!
What a perfect start into the season for Moona! The GKA Kitesurf World Tour 2018 started off in Sal, Cape Verde. After wavering conditions for days, the semi-finals moved to a spot called “Secrets” with consistent shoulder-high waves and steady wind. Competing against Jalou Langeree, current GKA World Champion Moona Whyte could win the heat and sealed the deal in the first round of the wave event.
The next events of the GKA World Tour will be held in Dakhla, Morocco from April 24 until April 29 and debut in Viana do Castelo, Portugal in June.
Moona was riding the Drifter kite on the S:Quad.
In the men's wave event, Keahi de Aboitiz won second place after a tight heat with Airton Cozzolino. That was the first time Airton has beaten Keahi in a final, so let’s see what happens in the next round! Stay tuned and read more at Global Kite Association’s website.
Keahi is stoked about his first time in Cape Verde. "It’s been delivering insane conditions for the contest. Stoked to make it all the way to the finals before going down to an on fire Airton Cozzolino. Not bad for my first time here in Cape Verde. Although it got a little slow for the final day, what an amazing few days of wind and waves we had. The level was insane at this event. Big thanks to everyone involved in putting this contest on!"
